Big News! Vietnam will be opening their borders to all tourists on March 15th! Hi Pastor Annette, I hope you are doing well. I will have the opportunity to lead a 12 day mission trip to Hanoi, Vietnam. We are currently recruiting a team of 5-7 team members. I currently have 2 people confirmed and 2 people that are praying to join us. Please pray that we will have a full team confirmed by March so we can begin preparations in April. The focus of our mission trip will be campus ministry. Nhung (aka Jenny) our Vietnam Campus minister said the campus finally opened back up in February. However, as a result of the pandemic, the Vietnam campus ministry no longer has any students. I am excited to be able to bring a team to reach the University students there. I recently had a call with our Vietnam church team in Hanoi and we are ready to reach the nations for Christ! Thank you for your prayers and support in my journey to becoming a homeowner. It is a lot harder than expected but I am learning a lot and embracing the process. I am hoping to find something in March and be in my new home by Spring 2022. Please continue to pray for me as I look for a place within my budget and in the right location. I am trusting for a place where I can host small groups and gatherings with people I am reaching out to. I'm believing for a place that will allow for ministry to happen in my home. I am grateful for your prayers. How are you doing? How can I pray for you? Thank you for your partnership and prayers in the work God has entrusted me. Tharshish Family's Healing Visit!Hi Pastor Annette,
I hope you are well. Apologies this letter is coming to you late. This past month and half has been extremely busy but very fulfilling. In the beginning of August my mom and aunt came to visit. This was my mom and aunt’s first time ever coming to Hawaii. I felt God ask me to treat them with the trip to Hawaii. So I saved for a year to be able to pay for their tickets and had the privilege of hosting them in my new home. My goal and prayer was for them to have a moment of true God ordained forgiveness and reconciliation. For most of the trip it was tense. There were outbursts of anger, negative attitudes, and we were all walking on eggshells. Three days before they were set to leave, I prayed and told God this was a bad idea. I didn’t see how their relationship would ever get better. The next day, I had a good conversation with my aunt about what a disciple of Christ looks like. I challenged her on what it means to walk in forgiveness and love. I think my mom overheard our conversation too. The following day, a miracle happened. My mom had a moment where she went into my room and cried over the loss of my youngest brother and the discord in our family. She came out and apologized to my aunt and asked her to forgive her for all she did to her over the decades. My aunt responded truthfully how much she was in pain and forgave my mom. Then she asked for my mom’s forgiveness as well. I stood there in awe… Just 2 days prior I had no faith that they would be able to reconcile. God reminded me that He is always at work, and that which He started, He would bring to completion (Phil 1:6). |
Walking Together!
My Missionary walking buddy Heather. Another Thank you! Thank you for praying that I get back on my health journey. I have been walking in the mornings with a missionary named Heather Ettleman. We live in the same area and I need some encouragement and accountability to walk these hills of Makakilo. Walking with Heather has been great! Heather is being sent for a short-mid range (6 months) mission trip to San Diego & Mexico. She will be living and helping a Spanish speaking church in San Diego that will be going on a few mission trips to Mexico within the 6 months she is there. The church is planning to plant a church in Mexico. Heather also has a heart to engage and see disciples made in Latin America. I will be her US support while she is away in the mission field. Please include Heather in your prayers as she prepares to leave next week for her trip. Thank you! Please Pray: Vietnam 2022 I am so excited we are just 3 ½ weeks until we head out to Vietnam to serve our Church and nation there. We are now at 92% of our fund-raising goals! Our tickets have been purchased and hotel booked. This past week everyone on our team has had mild to serious health issues. One team member even had to go to the ER. We know that this trip is a spiritual battle and as a team we fasted and prayed this past weekend. I would like to ask for your help to cover our team prayer as we prepare for the trip, and while we are in Vietnam from September 22nd to October 4th. Please pray for our health, wisdom and courage as I lead the team, and grace as I prepare to preach at our Vietnam church. Thank you for standing with me in every aspect of my life! Is there anything I can be praying for you for? If so, please feel free to message me at tharshish.johnson@everynation.org. I would love to hear from you. Thank you and God Bless! Tharshish London Visit! In the middle of July, I went to London for a few weeks to attend a friend’s wedding. While my friend (now Mrs. Gilly Sealey) was a student at Queen Mary University, I had the privilege of discipling her. Later, I was also able to pray with her mom in her faith journey and began discipling her in my community small group. I was so encouraged and honored by their invitation. Gilly’s mom even blessed me with the trip to London! I had a great time celebrating with friends that I haven’t seen in a long time. In addition to the wedding, I was able to meet up with ministry partners as well. It was a great trip and my love tank was filled! During my trip, I had the opportunity to preach. I was led to speak on prayer and titled my message, “Living in Prayer”. Here is the link to the service (sermon starts at 01:11:47). I hope this encourages you! |

Dear Mom, Minister Fran and TDP brethren,
Greetings in the matchless name of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ! I thank God for His faithfulness in everything. He is the one who started a work in us and also the one who sustain us along the way. He uses people to bless us and he also use us to bless others. Like a blessing in a complete cycle. Thank you very much for your continues support to me and the ministry that God has entrusted us here and in the Philippines. First of all, I would like to apologize for the delayed response to Minister Fran’s letter last week. When I received it, I was in a preparation for the reacher, I was also the organizer and overall coordinating running the program for the preparation of the event. Simultaneously, I was also the one preparing for the concert that was done in the evening of the celebration. Since the performers are my Russian friend and his wife, a Japanese artist. |
Hi Soara and Annette,
Praise God, Our Father, His Son Jesus Christ and The Holy Spirit who is at work today in the world!
Thank you for your constant prayers for me and students at Queen Mary, University of London (QMUL).
3 Weeks ago, was QMUL’s Fresher’s week. It was an exciting week for me, we had the mission team from Stellenbosch, South Africa (Jason, Selebale, Sergio, and Michiel), and 4 volunteers (Andrew, Tom, RaChelle, and Gerald) from my local church (who took time off from work) to engage with students. During that week we saw 6 students put their faith in Jesus Christ and one of those students was Water Baptised on the Sunday after deciding to follow Jesus on the Tuesday.
One highlight for me was a few specific things I have been praying for. I realised that with all the mission teams that have come to help and serve us, I always fell at the follow up process. There was always an awkward transfer to me of the connections the team had made. So I changed the way I structured the team this time; I had every SA team member paired with a London team member who agreed to follow up with the student. They would help them to establish a relationship with God and the local church for the next 4 months; they would then conduct a review and assess if they would like to continue to help in student ministry after the end of December. The team members agreed.
It was a joy seeing the London team members grow in faith and passion for engaging with students throughout the week as they shared the Gospel, and lead people in prayer to surrender their lives to Jesus Christ.
My number 1 highlight was having the honour and privilege to lead Arran the student I met last year who was a part of the LGBTQ+ community in a prayer of repentance, surrender and turning in faith to Jesus Christ as his Lord and Saviour. My heart was overflowing with emotion, as I saw the fulfilment of God’s plan for Arran and answered prayer.
I felt the Holy Spirit say to me at the beginning of the year, during our annual church-wide fasting and prayer time. The word I felt God give was Arran would be saved and an Evangelist to the LGBTQ+ community. My response was ‘Lord only you can do that’. Arran prayed to receive Jesus and to be filled with His Spirit on Tuesday 17 September. Before he prayed that prayer, he said I want to be water baptised. This was after my friend and co-team leader for the SA team (Selebale) who had also met Arran last year, had lunch with him and talked to him about surrendering and water baptism.
3 weeks before that Tuesday I spoke to him about the Holy Spirit and the conviction of sin. That Sunday Arran was water baptised. He has been meeting with my friend Andrew, who has been going through the one2one book with him. He has been actively telling his friends about his new commitment and wants to go and share more about his newfound faith with students like him. He sent me a message; “You’ve been an angel in my life, guiding me towards the light, without pressure, and it’s exactly what I needed to bring me closer to the God I had rejected and felt rejected by.” Please do keep him in your prayers, as the enemy is not happy about his new birth. He has been having dreams of animals trying to kill him. I encouraged him to pray in the name of Jesus and gave him some scriptures to use in the fight. Last Sunday, at church he told me that he told the fear he was experiencing when he woke up to go in the name of Jesus and he said, it went. He is a young disciple. Here is a video link of Arran after his baptism, and mission highlights.
Please do keep all the students we connected with in your prayers. We are actively following up 10 students, these are students that we met and have responded to a second meeting. We have had 4 new students in church these past 2 weeks. We had 22 people sign up at our booth, which we have contacted but not all have responded, but we are actively praying for them.
We are starting our weekly Connect group, with some socials in October, and in November we will be having our student weekend away.
My prayer and goal is that these students who have received salvation get firmly established in faith in Jesus and the students that aren’t sure about Christ would put their faith in Christ.
Thank you so much.
